HANDWOVEN RUGS
"A TRADITION FROM OAXACA"
HANDWOVEN RUGS
Entering the workshops of the artisans of Oaxaca feels like stepping into their homes. It is a unique experience to share time with them, listen to their stories, and hear about their experiences. The love and care they invest in each piece are palpable, and each family has its unique recipe for creation.
The process of making these rugs is intricate and goes far beyond just dyeing and weaving. It begins with the breeding of insects, followed by the collection of the wool, and culminates in the transformation of each fiber into thread, all made with their own hands. Using natural ingredients, they dye the threads in primary colors and various combinations, creating a diverse palette of shades and tones for the unique designs that adorn each rug. All the colors, tones, and patterns are conceived by the artisans, who draw inspiration from their community.
These threads are woven on wooden looms that the artisans also craft themselves, marking the beginning of the weaving process. Every rug tells a story; for them, these pieces are not merely decorative items but artifacts that embody their culture, personalities, and roots. Each family carries its narrative through their work.
In this collaboration, we aim to honor the artisans, their traditions, their ancestors, and, above all, their beautiful stories. We want to support these families and the increasingly rare art of handmade craftsmanship. That's why we decided to present these rugs in acrylic boxes, showcasing them as extraordinary works of art.
